Description
Job DescriptionAt this position, you will own the cost estimating and modeling processes for critical Driveline commodities (Halfshafts, Driveshafts, Beam/non-Beam/eBeam Axles), and eventually expand to Suspension, Brakes, and Steering Systems. Collaborating closely with Purchasing, Product Development, Material Cost, and Finance, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, identifying significant cost reduction and value capture opportunities across all product stages.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage precise piece cost estimates for assigned underbody commodities, leveraging a deep understanding of manufacturing cost structures and supply base capabilities.
- Lead "should-cost" and Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives, providing expert technical guidance to identify and implement cost optimization strategies.
- Support strategic commodity initiatives, cost target setting, and commercial agreements with robust, physicals-based cost analyses and detailed gap explanations (e.g., Activity Based Costing vs. Should Cost).
- Facilitate supplier engagement, including plant visits, to ensure data-driven estimates and support negotiation efforts for material cost reductions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our agile cost estimating framework, applying modern methodologies and data analytics to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a subject matter expert, effectively communicating complex cost strategies and best practices to diverse functional and regional teams, influencing senior leaders and driving organizational capabilities.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology or Administration/Finance, since with experience on manufacturing processes.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in automotive component manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in data management, quantitative analysis, and critical thinking.
- Good communication, facilitation, and persuasive storytelling abilities, with a collaborative mindset for cross-functional environments are differentials.
- Experience in constructing and analyzing manufacturing costs, including specific knowledge of at least one of the following:
Assembly Line Processes, Metal Casting, Forging, Stamping, Machining and Welding Assemblies. - Direct experience with automotive components such as Axles, Differentials, Halfshafts, or Propshafts is desirable.
