Manufacturing Digital Engineering (MDE) Product line is looking for a software engineer to join our team of passionate technical specialists, software engineers, and product managers dedicated to build & support software products for our manufacturing plants worldwide.

Within MDE, the Facility Twin and Visualization Product Team involved in a Manufacturing Workstation Readiness application, a plant-map as a service application that other manufacturing applications within Ford will consume. The team is also involved with a manufacturing process twin application for plant personnel world-wide.

This position has expectation of being on-site with the team 4 days a week in Dearborn.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Full Stack Software Engineer that enables the design, development, and support of APIs, Platforms, and services.

Develop Spring Boot/Java API/microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing GCP services.

Develop Angular and React applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing GCP services.

Review ongoing production software operations and troubleshoot production issues.

Deliver software frequently using Test Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD)

Work with team members to establish best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk.

Interact and work closely with product managers and software engineers on the team to devise solutions and break them into incremental production-ready user stories.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or a closely related field of study.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Software engineering experience developing Back-End Rest APIs preferably with Java/Spring Boot.
• Software engineering experience developing Front-End software preferably with Angular or React.
• Understanding of document-based database i.e. NoSQL, MongoDB
• Experience using software engineering best practices including:
• Team-oriented with excellent oral/written communication skills and willingness to work with global teams
• Knowledge with Google Cloud Platform, OpenShift, Azure or other cloud platforms.
• Knowledge with deploying new products and applications using continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Use DevOps tools such as Tekton, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fossa, Cycode, and GitHub to deploy, improve and manage software along with monitoring tools.
• Perform development individually and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, focusing on end-to-end integration, testing, and issue triage efforts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Manufacturing background
