Description
Job DescriptionFord Credit Europe is looking for a Director of Data Engineering to lead our European data engineering practice and play a pivotal role in our cloud transformation journey. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our data platforms, working closely with global teams and senior stakeholders.
You'll lead a team of engineers and consultants to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), supporting both internal and regulatory reporting needs. You'll also represent the data engineering function in executive forums and governance councils.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement production-grade data engineering solutions on GCP.
- Collaborate with global teams to align with Ford's enterprise data engineering standards.
- Manage third-party suppliers and applications supporting data engineering.
- Drive AI adoption across Ford Credit Europe in partnership with global AI leadership
Qualifications
The minimum requirements we seek:
- Extensive experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and ETL development.
- Proven leadership of engineering teams and external consultants.
- Deep expertise in GCP (or similar cloud platforms) and services for data processing and storage.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Terraform, Airflow, and containerized microservices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Our preferred requirements:
- GCP Professional Certification (e.g., Professional Data Engineer).
- Experience in regulated financial environments.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or Apache Beam.
- Familiarity with data governance and tools like Wolters Kluwer.
- Experience deploying AI tools in production.

This position is based in Dunton, and it is expected the successful candidate will be able to attend the Dunton office for typically 4 days a week and remain flexible on the days they are required to attend the office according to business requirements.
