Electrical Distribution System (EDS) Ford Champ, this role offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn the design, development, validation, and release processes for wiring harnesses. You will support initiatives aimed at achieving cost savings, optimizing weight, enhancing quality, and developing process improvements within the EDS department.
The Electrical Distribution System (EDS) In-House Design and Release (D&R) team is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Distribution System (EDS) Ford Cham. This entry-level position is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the core responsibilities of an EDS D&R Engineer. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will learn to support the design, development, validation, and release of wiring harnesses. A key focus of this role will be to understand and contribute to achieving cost-saving targets, as well as supporting the development of process improvements within the EDS department.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:
- EDS Program Compliance and Design & Release Support: The Trainee EDS Design and Release Engineer will learn to ensure compliance with program targets (cost, weight, quality, performance, timing) and apply Robustness Engineering disciplines. This includes supporting technical design reviews, TVM initiatives, part release processes, BOM management, validation testing, and issue resolution for EDS components.
- Strategic Project Contributions for Optimization: The role involves actively contributing to specific projects focused on complexity reduction (e.g., analyzing features, generating complexity charts, identifying reduction opportunities, estimating costs) and cost reduction (TVM initiatives, defining work plans, estimating costs, and reporting progress) within EDS for various programs.
- Quality Improvement and Process Enhancement: Responsibilities also include learning to contribute to quality improvement actions by analyzing warranty data and internal indicators, defining containment and fix plans, and supporting the development and documentation of process improvements for the EDS department.
Qualifications
What you'll need:
- Active student from any of the last 4 semesters of electrical engineering.
- 90% English skills (Oral, reading, writing, and listening)
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).
- Basic 3D CAD Knowledge (e.g., CATIA/3DX exposure from coursework or projects).
- Foundational understanding of automotive systems.
- Understanding of feature partitioning concepts.
- Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, VBA) gained through coursework or personal projects.
