Description
Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Requirements
Major Responsibilities:
Planning
Prepares and reviews construction drawings and sketches.
Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
Tracks and reports Contractor’s progress and prepares Daily Reports
Quantities
Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Reviews and verifies Contractor’s applications for payment
Safety / Quality Control
Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Provides Quality Assurance oversight through field inspections and surveillance of the Contractor’s work.
Technical
Monitor the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with ES&H, quality requirements & project technical requirements. Undertake site inspection duties.
Interprets design engineering drawings and specifications.
Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
Reviews and approves inspection test plans,
Coordinates and reviews of Contractor submittals
Reviews RFI’s, field change notices/requests and extra work orders
Education and Experience Requirements:
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of construction means and methods, engineering and technical requirements, contracts administration and/or cost and scheduling relating to the construction of bridges and structures on major projects Ontario or Canada.
Work experience as a senior project coordinator, field engineer, assistant superintendent or assistant project manager leading to an understanding of the technical knowledge described above.
Experience working in bridge construction, utility relocations, track, and heavy civil works.
Experience in executing construction activities within or directly adjacent to a live operational railway is considered advantageous.
