Job Summary:
In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:
Specialization & Expertise
On large (>$250m) project acts as lead field engineer/specialist, overseeing the Contractor's work at Don Valley Crossing (DVC), West Don Bridge (WDB), Minton Place SOE, and Beth Nealson underpass (‘the Project”), being the DP representative on site, in accordance with the contract in terms of health, safety, environment, quality, schedule, and cost performance.
Reporting progress, identifying risks, highlighting emerging issues and escalating to the OLDP Lead Construction Manager.
Reviewing and approving high quality daily records of observations and other information gathered including site personnel, materials, equipment, completed work (installed quantities) and issues that may arise.
Reviewing and approving deliverables and other submittals prepared by Contractor related to construction or construction support for the Project.
Work Planning & Packaging
Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
Material Management
Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.
Quantities
Leads the verification of commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
Technical experience in reviewing and assessing Contractor technical submittals such as Shop Drawing, Temporary works i.e. Temporary bridges to name a few.
Proactively consider continuous learning or show interest in pursuing appropriate learning activities
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
Reviews and approves inspection test plans prepared by Contractor.
Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals for compliances in a timely manner.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Required bachelor's degree(or equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Previously held construction supervision role(s) with responsibility for construction of infrastructure of similar scope, size, and complexity to the Project.
Technical knowledge and experience of relevant construction methods and systems including major bridge construction over water crossings, slope stability works, Cast in place segmental bridge construction, excavation and shoring
Demonstrated technical writing, data management, verbal communication, presentation, and teaching skills.
Experience of working on infrastructure mega-projects, preferably rail projects in urban areas, in the vicinity of operational rail lines
Experience of working on infrastructure mega-projects, preferably rail projects in urban areas, in the vicinity of operational rail lines. Including working knowledge of track closures processes and logistic challenges to working during track closures / possessions.
Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the relevant Environmental, Health and Safety regulations as they relate to area of responsibility.
Knowledge of the Contractor's responsibilities contained in contract documents. Prior experience supervising and administering contractors.
