In this position...
We are looking for an experienced plant environmental engineer to provide technical and regulatory environmental support to the non-manufacturing team at the Research and Engineering Center (REC) and Commercial/Corporate Properties. The REC engineer is responsible for completing required regulatory reports and responding to any agency inquiries. As a team player, you will collaborate with the REC team as well as other Ford sites and the corporate office to identify innovative ways to reduce water consumption, waste generation, and material usage.
What you'll do...
- Provides day-to-day technical and regulatory support for environmental media/operational subjects (air, materials, Environmental Operating System (EOS), ISO 14001, plant reports, decommissioning, remediation, permitting, regulatory communications, testing, plant audits, spill response, etc.). add water, waste items
- Supports achievement of the E&SC and Non-Manufacturing business plan objectives and targets.
- Develops accurate and complete correspondence (reports, permit applications, etc.) to support sites' environmental compliance and business plan objectives and targets.
- Prepares required air regulatory reports and respond to any air agency inquiries and compliance issues (Greenhouse Gas Plans/Reporting, Michigan Annual Emission Reports/MiEnviro, Title V Permit Certifications/Deviations, Title V Permit Emission Calculations for Paint Booth Records, Refrigerant Management/Training, NESHAP Notifications, RICE MACT, Cold Cleaners, etc)
- Reviews Non-Manufacturing site projects and provides direction that supports environmental compliance and sustainability.
- Supports technical aspects of environmental systems at facilities (Environmental Operating System, environmental reserves, facility decommissions, compliance assurance, non-manufacturing management reviews, e-trackers, project reviews, contractor method statements, etc.).
- Utilizes environmental software applications (GEM/ICSM, IPOINT, Business Objects, SharePoint, Maximo Lite, etc.) to help achieve business plan objectives and targets.
- Builds strong, productive working relationships with environmental professionals and manufacturing/non-manufacturing contacts throughout the Company at facilities and staff levels.
- Provides environmental training to employees, as required.
- Ensures sites' Record Retention/DRIM/MCRP/GAO requirements are complied with.
- Supports battery technology and emerging environmental compliance/regulation
- Participates in UAW-Ford Land Maintenance and Operations Monthly Safety Process Review Board.
- Effectively uses standard procedures and best practices to ensure sites' environmental compliance to achieve business plan objectives and targets.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable national, regional, and local environmental requirements.
- Represents Ford's interests on environmental matters through interaction with external entities (local, regional, and national regularly agencies, community groups, trade and professional organization, non-governmental organizations, etc.).
- Supports facility programs through necessary permit actions, regulated material surveys, site use histories, due care plans, sampling and reporting as required.
- Fundamental understanding of environmental rules and regulations.
- Ensures environmental compliance for VPEC, APTL & Dynamometer, Michigan Central Campus (Book Repository, Train Station, and other future buildings).

- Bachelor's Degree
- 1+ years of environment manufacturing experience
- 1+ years of Microsoft office application experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred
- Graduate's / Master's level degree in Chemical, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering degree

This position is a range of salary grades SG5 - SG8
