Description
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a talented and experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer with experience in the area of electronic packaging for the design and development of military communication and sensing equipment. You will become the next Subject Matter Expert (SME) on our team of talented engineers.
The candidate shall be well versed in using solid modeling tools (CREO preferred) and have a proven capability in applying those tools within the design and review process with demonstrated creativity. A familiarity with a comprehensive design process is required including conceptual and final design, support to procurement, work hands-on with assembly personnel, engineering test, debug, integration and support of product qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform conceptual and detailed mechanical design
• Comprehensively document designs
• Communicate with a cross disciplinary team of stakeholders to ensure the final product meets all requirements
• Create technical presentations on designs, risk items
• Perform trade studies
• Present designs at design reviews
• Support procurement and build of prototype designs
• Support qualification activities
• Support technical demonstrations
• Design for manufacturing (DFM)
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
• The candidate shall possess an understanding in the application of heat transfer principles, strength of materials, materials selection and the ability to apply those principles to unique mechanical design challenges.
• The ability to work in small design teams and to effectively communicate within the team is required.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
• Candidate shall also be able to work within a broader program team and be able to communicate across functional boundaries in order to solve problems and achieve common goals.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience in electronics packaging.
• Expertise in solid modeling (CREO preferred).
• Clear understanding of core mechanical engineering principles (heat transfer, strength of materials, materials selection).
• Ability to design and develop complex mechanical systems and components.
• Experience with product development, from concept to production.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including machining, casting, and 3D printing.
• Able to obtain a TS and SCI clearance.
• Clear communication - both oral and written - and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively on a team either on-site or remotely.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
• Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience.
• The ability to perform thermal and/or structural analysis using industry simulation tools (ANSYS Workbench preferred) is a plus.
• Active Secret DoD Security Clearance within the last two years.
• Experience with drafting principles and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009.
• Experience/Expertise in thermal/structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Ability to mentor less experienced engineers.
• The use of commercially available schedule tools and application of those tools within EVMS is a plus.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115779 - $196825
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
