The Intracellular Targeted Cancer Therapeutics (ITCT) Biology Unit within the Oncology Research Unit is seeking an experienced Cancer Biologist for a Principal Scientist role that will support a growing portfolio of oncology therapeutics. You will design and execute experiments, analyze data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive impactful therapeutic advancements. We value candidates who are detail-oriented, creative, and passionate about improving patients' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide basic and translational biology support for target validation, drug discovery, and early clinical development of novel small molecule cancer therapies.
- Work independently to design and execute molecular, biochemical, and cellular assays that support target validation and drug discovery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including chemists, biologists, and data scientists.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings to project teams and the Oncology Research Unit.
- Manage externally resourced projects and ensure timely delivery of high-quality data.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related life sciences field with 2+ years of post-doctoral research experience, or an M.S. degree with 3+ years of Pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Experience designing, executing, and analyzing molecular, biochemical, and cellular biology experiments.
- Experience in cancer biology, signaling pathways, or synthetic lethality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 or more years of drug discovery experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
- Experience in assay development in a drug discovery setting.
- Knowledge of transgene expression and genomic editing techniques, such as CRISPR/Cas9, to study target biology and drug mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of -omic methods (e.g., sequencing, transcriptomics, proteomics) and databases (e.g., DepMap, CCLE, Sanger, etc.).
- Experience working with lab automation including robotic liquid handlers, automated plate readers, etc
- Attention to detail and proficient reasoning skills in experimental design, data analysis, statistical methods, and interpretation.
- Proven track record of scientific achievement through peer-reviewed publications.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Location:
This role is based in the United States and is on-site at either Upper Providence, PA or Cambridge, MA.
