Job DescriptionWe are seeking a proactive Quality Engineer to join the Ford Irapuato team supporting the ISC (Inverter module) manufacturing process. The ideal candidate is an electromechanical engineer with hands‑on experience in electronic component manufacturing, robust knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), quality systems (PPAP/APQP), launch support, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) control practices. This role will own process quality for the ISC line, lead SPC implementation, support launches, manage calibration and measurement systems, and work with cross‑functional teams and suppliers to ensure product and process conformance.
Responsibilities
- Own quality for the ISC (Inverter module) manufacturing process, from launch through sustained production.
- Define, implement and maintain SPC methodologies for key process characteristics; create and maintain Control Charts, establish control limits, and monitor process capability (Cp, Cpk).
- Develop and execute reaction plans and containment actions when control limits or specification limits are violated; lead root‑cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, 5Whys) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Prepare and maintain PPAP deliverables and support APQP activities for new and changed designs/components.
- Support product launches: process validation, pilot builds, run at rate, quality gates and readiness reviews.
- Lead/participate in measurement system analysis (MSA), equipment calibration, maintenance planning and measurement device management.
- Design and maintain ESD control program for the line (procedures, audits, training, work instructions and corrective actions).
- Create and maintain control plans, process flowcharts, and FMEAs for ISC processes.
- Conduct first article inspections and support nonconforming material disposition.
- Provide training and technical coaching to operators, technicians and engineers on SPC, ESD best practices, inspection methods and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Test, Procurement and Supplier Quality to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement (DFMEA/PFMEA inputs).
- Generate and present regular quality metrics and reports (defect trends, pareto analysis, SPC summaries) to plant leadership.
- Support supplier qualification and incoming inspection processes for critical ISC components.
- Ensure compliance with Ford quality standards, customer requirements and applicable industry standards for electronic assemblies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience (recommended 3+ years) in manufacturing of electronic components / assemblies, ideally in automotive or similar high‑reliability industries.
- Practical experience implementing and maintaining SPC (control charts, capability studies) and using statistical tools (Minitab, JMP, Excel or equivalent).
- Knowledge and experience with PPAP and APQP processes and deliverables.
- Hands‑on experience with ESD control programs and ESD best practices.
- Experience supporting product launches and production ramp‑ups.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and experience leading root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Experience with measurement systems (MSA), calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
- Proficiency in generating quality documentation: control plans, FMEA, process flow, inspection instructions.
- Strong communication skills in Spanish and working proficiency in English (able to read/write technical documents and communicate with U.S. teams).
- Availability to travel to the United States as required.
- Must have a valid U.S. visa and a current, valid passport.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in automotive power electronics or inverter module manufacturing.
- Certification or coursework in Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience with Ford or OEM quality systems and standards.
- Familiarity with IPC standards for electronic assemblies.
- Previous experience working in cross‑border projects or with U.S.‑based engineering teams.
