Job Title: Sr Dfx Engineering Program Manager II
As a Sr DFx Engineering Program Manager II, you will play a key technical role with a specific focus on test engineering expertise in the development and launch of new products, supporting the Engineering Program Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure designs are testable and ready for scale. You'll be deeply involved in prototype builds, factory readiness, and the development of automation and test systems-bringing a strong foundation in test engineering, design for test (DFT), and hands-on technical execution. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of product design, manufacturing, and automation-and enjoys getting into the details to make products scalable, efficient, and robust. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert in all things related to test; guiding design, developing in-house test strategies through local partners (such as manufacturing engineering or local equipment suppliers), and guiding and validating the work of CMs and JDMs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Engineering Program Manager in planning and executing builds through Axon's Product Lifecycle (APL) including System Prototype (SP), Engineering Validation (EVT), Design Validation (DVT), and Production Validation (PVT).
- Drive design for testability (DFT) through proactive engagement with design engineering teams to define and implement test strategies early in the product development cycle.
- Define, architect, and validate end-to-end test strategies including ICT, functional test, system-level test, and end-of-line test solutions.
- Lead the development and qualification of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective test solutions including fixtures, software, and test plans.
- Oversee local and outsourced test development partners and ensure alignment with Axon test strategy and product requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and design teams to define test coverage, limits, and pass/fail criteria based on system and sub-system requirements.
- Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) and data analysis to optimize test coverage, identify root causes of test failures, and improve yield.
- Validate and audit CM and JDM test development and execution for conformance to Axon standards.
- Track test readiness and test infrastructure deployment across internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform test data reviews, statistical analysis, and drive improvement initiatives to resolve test escapes, flakiness, and yield detractors.
- Support build readiness and factory ramp activities with test strategy execution, debug, and correlation to design intent.
- Generate technical documentation including test specifications, test reports, correlation studies, and summary presentations for leadership.
- Participate in risk analysis activities and contribute to PFMEA and related DFX documentation from a test engineering perspective.
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related engineering field.
- 10 years of experience in NPI, manufacturing, or automation engineering (preferably in electronics, consumer hardware and automotive devices).
- Relevant product experience: robotics, radar sensing, lasers, active vision alignment, servos, military applications, projectiles, propulsion devices, and electronic ignition systems.
- Track record of successful product launches in a test engineering role, preferably in consumer electronics or related fields.
- Proficient in DFT principles, test plan creation, test fixture and software development, and debug methodologies.
- Experienced in SMT (surface mount technology), FATP (Final Assembly, Test and Packaging), flexible and rigid PCBAs, and Board-to-Board (B2B) electrical interfaces.
- Comfortable working closely with CMs/JDMs and overseeing test strategy execution and correlation.
- Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience supporting development builds and ramping test systems for mass production.
- Strong statistical proficiency, including DOE, GR&R, SPC, and test data analytics.
- Expertise in test engineering disciplines, such as:
- Electrical and functional test development and automation.
- Vision systems, robotics integration for test automation.
- End-of-line testing, ICT, boundary scan and system-level diagnostics.
