BAE Systems Enterprise Shared Services (ESS) is looking for an experienced and results-driven Senior Manager, Program Planning, to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be the primary functional leader overseeing program planning support to the PMO Delivery team in support of complex projects and programs. This leader will drive continuous improvement in the practices used to develop, assess, and maintain integrated master plans (IMPs), integrated master schedules (IMS), and program risk & opportunity assessments in support of complex internal technology projects.
Role and Responsibilities include:
- Developing methodologies for baselining the function's competencies and skills, as well an approach for continuous improvement.
- Talent management to include approaches to peer reviews, mentoring, and coaching.
- Developing and delivering training material, to include aspects of Control Account Manager (CAM) and project financial specific training. Develop and reinforce best practices around basis of estimate creation, project master scheduling, risk management and project financial planning. Oversee training delivery to organization around all developed processes.
- Developing and maintaining Program Planning related command media, and guidance documents.
- Participating in sector and company functional activities such as surveillance, tool evaluation, policy reviews, and process management.
- Ensures that all schedules prepared within area of responsibility are fully compliant with BAE and industry requirements. Develops critical and driving path analyses in compliance with business and technology team requirements.
- Supporting Program Performance and Phase Review team reviews through the analysis and assessment of schedule performance.
- Preparing and presenting executive-level briefings to senior leadership.
- Supports ESS and customer planning and scheduling guidelines and procedures by conducting presentations, training, and other informational sessions with business, technology, and program management personnel.
- Provides input to demand cost estimates. Supports the program manager in monitoring SPI/CPI performance.
- Possess a thorough understanding of US DoD schedule policies and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) requirements.
- Provide holistic leadership, promote a positive culture, and ensure an environment of collaboration, inclusivity, and respect in alignment with the company's behaviours and cultural principles.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

- Bachelor's degree and minimum of 15 years of experience
- PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required
- Expertise in development of complex integrated master plans (IMPs) and integrated master schedules (IMS)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Proficiency Microsoft Project
- Experience in change management roles, especially involving cultural change
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence diverse work teams
- Ability to mentor early through late career team members.
- Possess a thorough understanding of US DoD schedule policies and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) requirements.
- Ability to develop solutions to complex problems using ingenuity & innovation
- Experience communicating and presenting business data to other functions in an accurate, concise, and understandable manner
- Ability to make decisions with sound judgment while complying with policies and procedures
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Preferred Skills and Education
- Experience leveraging ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) tools, or comparable PPM platforms
- Ability to assess schedule health metrics (ex. DCMA 14-point SHA criteria)
- Ability to challenge and improve knowledge of industry practices and standards, as well as company policies
- Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers
- Familiarity with Critical Chain project management, project scheduling best practices in Agile environments, and other advanced scheduling techniques
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $120000 - $204000
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
