In this position...
As the Subject Matter Expert in Exterior Class A development, you will mentor global Class A Surface Designers in world class surfacing. Additionally, you will use your expertise to evaluate design alternatives, develop surface proposals, and recommend best practices for continual technical maturity development of the global surfacing community.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

• Mentors Class A Surface Designers, Surfacing Co-Op Students, FCGs and new hire Ford employees
• valates surface design alternatives and provides surface solutions / recommendations for core area of expertParticipates in program Digital Surface Reviews and Design Verification reviews to provide a "fresh eyes" surface quality assessment for core area of expertise prior to surface release
• Acts as a "CAD Method Owner" for core area of expertise who identifies CAD methodologies, "Best Practices" and tool solutions; cascades knowledge base and trains department staff
• 5. High Technical Maturity in Exterior design and highlighting including construction methods, assessment of surface and correction of surface for highlights.

Qualifications

You'll have...

• Proven ability to develop Class A Surface utilizing design sketches, verbal direction or point cloud data
• 7+ years of experience in Class A Surfacing (Exterior/Interior commodities, System Compatibility). Demonstrates creative and artistic insight, and ensure progression of surface data consistent with Design Language
• Vast knowledge of engineering feasibility requirements on multiple vehicle zones
• Strong technical skills in Class A Surfacing Tools, Data Management and Visualization Tools (e.g. ICEM Surf and/or CATIA ISD and Alias, Team Center, Reference Manager)
• Strong understanding of Design Development and System Compatibility

• 6. Ability to work through feasibility issues, and help drive resolution that can deliver design intent within the feasibility constraints. Proven ability to evaluate design alternatives and provide a recommendation
• 7. Good communication skills, collaborative behavior for daily interaction with Design Studio, Engineering, Manufacturing and other affected activities
• 8. Proficient with PMI (CATIA Team Center Engineering) part filing system/''
• 9. Expert level of understanding of surface quality and ability to execute Class A Surfacing at the highest level
