At BAE SMS Aerospace Manufacturing Center (AMC) in Westminster, CO, we develop and manufacture state of the art tactical technologies including low profile antennas, electronic warfare platforms, electro-optical laser imaging, and phased arrays. Technological developments are driving rapid expansion of our manufacturing capabilities to support customer demands. You will get to work with state-of-the-art military, space, and tactical equipment. The role is hands-on, technically challenging, and allows you to contribute to impactful projects with exciting missions. Working alongside highly skilled people including planners, engineers and technicians where there is space to learn and grow. This position will support the Printed Circuit Board Lab. As a predominantly prototype circuit board shop, we specialize in fabricating and testing small-batch or custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) for advanced aerospace applications. We support rapid development cycles by producing high-reliability boards that meet strict aerospace standards, enabling engineers to validate designs before full-scale production. You'll be an important and integral part of the team driving operational and technical excellence.
This position is intended to provide operations for the Printed Circuit Shop. The primary assignment will be in the Printed Circuit Shop; however, cross-training and flexing to the other work centers will be a core responsibility of this position.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You'll Do:
- Perform cross-section work, evaluate defects, and identify process issues.
- Operate processes including copper plating, immersion tin, LDI, etching process and electroless copper.
- Safely handle and work with chemicals such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and other process chemistries.
- Move and manage chemical containers, including 55-gallon drums.
- Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment, including full-face respirators.
- Read and interpret blueprints and verify engineering drawings.
- Ensure process parameters are met to produce high-quality boards
- Support process troubleshooting, improvements, and production needs.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
- Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective and efficient processes.
- Support other Manufacturing Shops and Service Centers including, but not limited to: Paint Shop, Printed Circuit Work Center and Adhesive Cutting Lab.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 or more years of related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and build documentation for aerospace hardware and use electronic engineering and production databases. Must be able to organize and document various data inputs.
- Hands-on experience with PCB fabrication processes such as drilling, plating, etching, solder masking, or wet chemical processing.
- Ability to pass in-house certifications including personal protective equipment, hazardous waste, hazard communication, crane, and cleanroom practices.
- Ability to work in a team environment with engineers, assemblers, technicians, customers and auditors.
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows operating system, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
A DoD Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Basic knowledge of quality inspection methods, such as using microscopes and automated inspection tools.
- Background in electronics manufacturing, aerospace, or other high-reliability industries a plus.
- Familiarity with cleanroom or controlled lab environments and strict safety protocols.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $56195 - $89912
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
