As an Vehicle Hardware Engineering Ford Champ, you will be immersed in the day-to-day business operations of a dynamic engineering department. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will learn to analyze data, contribute to critical business processes, and communicate effectively to help develop, implement, and sustain key activities within the VHE organization. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your analytical skills in a real-world corporate setting and gain foundational experience in business management within an automotive engineering context.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:
- Financial & Resource Tracking:
- Assist with the tracking and analysis of headcount resources, supporting resource planning initiatives.
- Learn to track and analyze travel and overtime expenses for the department.
- Support the maintenance of annual travel forecasts and ensure proper accounting of overtime/travel expenses to help ensure adherence to the budget.
- Assist in the preparation of purchase orders (POs) and learn to track their approval status and budget allocation.
- Team & Communication Support:
- Support the maintenance of accurate team rosters and organizational charts.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of meetings, including attending to document key discussions and agreements.
- Help coordinate internal communication channels, such as call trees and distribution lists.
- Learn to develop and maintain dashboards or "health charts" to track the status of business-related tasks and initiatives.
- Data Analysis & Ad-Hoc Projects:
- Contribute to ad-hoc assignments from the VHE Business Office, such as assisting with resource studies and workload analysis, applying analytical skills to sort and create data insights.
- Participate in learning and understanding Ford's internal systems and processes.
Qualifications
What you'll need:
- Active student from any of the last 4 semesters of Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Automotive, or related disciplines) or Business Administration with a strong analytical focus.
- 90% English skills (Oral, reading, writing, and listening)
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong emphasis on Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data visualization).
- Demonstrated ability to create and edit professional documents (Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to sort, organize, and analyze data.
- Proactive attitude and a strong eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
- Basic understanding of project management principles or time management skills.
- Familiarity with automotive systems or a strong interest in the automotive industry.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles or CAD knowledge is a plus, given the context of Vehicle Hardware Engineering.
- Academic experience with data analysis projects.
