Responsibilities
DETAILED ACTIVITIES:
Position Purpose (Overview of the position)
- Manage program activities related to VME Body Construction Engineering (BCE) for: Transit/Passenger Car/Truck Programs
- Provides process feasibility and development for vehicle manufacturing, starting from initial development phase through implementation in the assembly plant. Coordinates with cross functional teams such as: VME-Advanced engineering/ VME -Facility/ Plant Body Launch/ STA/ PD/ Suppliers/ MP&L/ TCF/ Body/ Paint/ NMP/ FAE/ Paint engineering/ IE/ QA/ PVT/ Purchasing/ Finance/ Other BCE contacts across Ford plants
- And makes sure all required facilities, tooling, error proofing, capability, and processes are in place meeting program timing and fully validated for proper assembly of these specialized vehicles (this includes online and offline processes).
- Work together with the ME Engineers to Manage MTC
- Health Chart Assessment for Current Production
- Alert & Concern Approval
- Work together with the Body Engineers (Process Coach & ME) to resolve top quality issues in Internal Indicators
Key Roles and Responsibilities of Position
- The VME BCE Engineer is responsible in launching new products for manufacturing, looking after all models in the plant.
- Work together with the Body Engineers (Process Coach & ME) to resolve top quality issues in Internal Indicators for current model.
- Work together with the ME Engineers of Body & TCF to Manage MTC for current model.
- Health Chart Assessment for Body & TCF shop for current model.
- Alert & Concern Approval for Body & TCF shop for current model.
- Must be highly motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills are required in order to develop teams and ensure both program and corporate deliverables are met.
Primary roles:
- Manage VME activities for FVL Body Shop from initial development phase through implementation in the assembly plant (6 months prior to TT through OKTB).
- Work together with the Body Engineers (Process Coach & ME) to resolve top quality issues in Internal Indicators for current model.
- Work together with the ME Engineers of Body & TCF to Manage MTC for current model.
- Health Chart Assessment for Body & TCF shop for current model.
- Alert & Concern Approval for Body & TCF shop for current model.
- Manage working with very diverse team across the region. Collaborate mainly with teams in Australia, Thailand, Taiwan, China, India, Europe and USA.
- Oversee development of processes and facilities with VME-Advanced engineering, Manufacturing and Facility engineers.
In-depth roles:
- Safety: Ensure the tasks that the assembly operator is expected to perform are safe, taking into consideration the design of the work cell, facilities, equipment and ergonomics. Ensure all personnel and contractors reporting to you are aware of all safety standards and are meeting them. Actively raise / address any safety issues throughout the site.
- Quality: Spearhead in setting up systems, procedures and measurable that ensures a quality outcome; (Global Vehicle Operations Structure Standards (GVOSS). Sheet Metal, Dimensional control skill, LD strategic, GSPAS process, 5S, error proofing, first time through, overall tooling effectiveness, Single point lessons, etc.). Use analytical problem solving tools such as PFMEA and Six Sigma to both prevent and resolve issues. Perform process simulations and develop Process Flow Diagrams
- Cost: Manage allocated budget. Ensure that tooling / facility solutions are cost effective. Provide cost analysis for the budget approval. Develop innovative ideas and alternatives to be cost competitive with proposals. Design the operator's workstation to minimize non value added work.
- Delivery: Provide technical expertise to the project execution. Take responsibility for meeting deliverables at each phase of the project. Verify that the design of the production system meets target cycle times and any' bottle necks' are identified and addressed.
- F&T's: Oversee/ Lead procurement of all facilities and tooling required. Oversee the commissioning of equipment/tooling both on and off site. Ensure equipment/tooling is safe, capable, meets overall equipment/tooling effectiveness targets and that the operator is sufficiently trained in its correct use. Ensure proper handover to production team.
- Future models: Take into consideration future models when designing the production facilities. Plan the implementation of subsequent models into the facility at increased production volumes.
- People Training: Coach and develop manufacturing engineers as per corporate standard.
- Management Reviews: Chair/ support cross functional meetings (VME-Process, VME-Facility, BODY, TCF, Launch, Safety/Ergo, MP&L, Suppliers, STA, PD, etc.) to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- No. of Years of Experience: Min 3 Years of experience in Automotive Environment
- Professional Exposure (Technical Skills): Engineering background. Experienced in Manufacturing / Production preferred, particularly in vehicle assembly, Teamcenter skill
- Preferred previous experiences: Experience in Global Vehicle Operations Structure Standards (GVOSS). Sheet Metal, Dimensional control skill, LD strategic, GSPAS process
- Functional Skills: Skills required for efficient handling of the cross-function team, Project Management, Analytical thinking, Ford Production System. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Behavioral Skills: Excellent communications / Interpersonal / Leadership / Presentation skill. Strong oral and written English skills. Ability to work under pressure. Willing to adapt working hours as needed within a Global Organization (e.g. nighttime conference calls). Willing to travel as needed to support regional operations
