Company History
In 1946, Soichiro Honda began by modifying generator engines from the former Imperial Army to power bicycles, creating a popular new mode of transportation. This success led to the development of the A-Type engine in 1947, marking the first time Honda’s name appeared on a product. Starting with just 34 employees and a capital of 1 million yen, Honda quickly expanded, introducing innovations like the H-Type farming engine and the F150 tiller. By 1959, Honda had entered motorcycle racing and established its first overseas subsidiary in Los Angeles, California.
Over the years, Honda achieved numerous milestones, including dominating motorcycle racing, developing Japan’s first Formula 1 car, and creating the first car navigation system. Honda also made significant strides in environmental compliance and technological advancements, such as the FCX fuel cell vehicle and the HondaJet. Today, Honda's commitment to innovation endures, exemplified by the Clarity Fuel Cell and its robust position in the global automotive market. Honda continues to steer the path toward a future where mobility is synonymous with possibility and progress!
